The government appoints Martina Axmin as the new general representative for social insurance.

The general ombudsman must drive legal development in the social insurance area by appealing the decisions of the Social Insurance Agency and the Pensions Authority and pursue these cases in court. The general ombudsman is independent in relation to the Social Insurance Agency and the Swedish Pensions Agency, but does not appeal cases on behalf of individuals.

The public representative must appeal cases that are deemed to be of great importance to both individual insured persons and the general public.
