As of January 1, 2023, associate professor Steven Schmidt is coordinating CASE. He is also head of the research group Applied Gerontology at the Department of Health Sciences, Lund University.

Steven Schmidt is associate professor of medical psychology and his research focuses on relationships between environment, health/function and psychosocial factors in the ageing population.

- I would first like to acknowledge Susanne’s leadership over many years, in developing CASE into the strong research environment we have today. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the CASE steering group, user board, and collaborators during this year of transition. As with any research environment, it is essential to evolve and innovate to produce state of the art results and have an impact on society. I am confident that together we will develop a strategy to achieve these goals and continue CASE for many years to come.

Susanne Iwarsson, who has led CASE since 2007, says:

- It is great that we have now received a shift regarding the assignment as coordinator for CASE. Together with Professor Agneta Ståhl, LTH, I initiated the application for a grant from Forte which led us to start the research center in 2007. I have been the leader of the center since then and it has been very inspiring to see how it has been established and also developed during the years. I would like to thank all co-workers for the trust to work on this. At the same time, I would like to wish Steven and the CASE steering group the best of luck with the important task of leading CASE for continued strong development.
